It's not possible to sugarcoat it. The Metaverse, which has been pouring billions of dollars, looks bad.

The CEO of Facebook took to the social networking site to post a picture of a virtual reality game where the digital selves of people around the world can gather. The ruler of all metamates wanted to share the good news of the game's release in France and Spain.

The CEO wrote that the company was launching in France and Spain. Excited to see people build and bring this to more countries.

The design of this "immersive" world is stunningly disappointing. Zuck's pasty, robotic avatars is pictured in front of a sparse, sad landscape of replicas of France's Eiffel Tower and Spain's Tibidabo Cathedral.

It's not always possible to see that from a non-VR display. It looks like this is very different from the Metaverse vision that Facebook's founder has been trying to sell, and it looks like it's behind the likes of digital worlds likeFortnite and Roblox, which are already finding massive success.

This is bad. They should stop. It doesn't look like an actual product. There's nothing 'immersive' about this. It doesn't have to look realistic if it has a creative direction. When your core product looks like the painted walls of an abandoned daycare center u have to wonder. pic.twitter.com/sclPmBT8Ng

Twitter's Take

There was a lot to say by the people who use the social networking site.

One user said that Facebook spent $10 billion on Metaverse projects in 2011. The graphics look similar to a computer game that was created in 1997.

"So as far as I can tell, the Metaverse is just Animal Crossing but you're being hunted by Mark Zuckerberg," quipped another.

"Billions and billions poured into it and this is the result," wrote yet another, who included a photo of a different and equally terrible screen grab ofHorizon Words in which one can see that, after years of development, avatars still don't have legs." It's wonderful.

Hats off to Wendy's, they do have a place there. It's difficult to call the world in this imageimmersive. We wish Zucko good luck at his earnings call.

Is Mark Facebook not aware of how bad his Metaverse looks? It's called Forbes.

There is more on Zuck's cursed Metaverseavatar.
