The future of football in India has been thrown into doubt by the suspension of the association.

India was supposed to host the women's Under 17 World Cup in October, but may not be able to due to the ban.

The Supreme Court of India asked the federal government to take "pro active steps" to make sure that the World Cup goes ahead as planned.

The AIFF was suspended due to interference by a third party. The AIFF was dissolved by the Supreme Court of India in May.

The member federations must not be involved in legal or political matters.

India's participation in international matches will be affected by the suspension.

The young players who were going to participate in the World Cup were devastated.

The tournament was supposed to be hosted by India in 2020, but it was delayed due to the Covid epidemic. Being the host gave it the chance to participate.

Fans and players were disappointed by the news.

The World Cup was exciting for me. India would have been honored. Sai is a footballer from the western Indian city of Mumbai who didn't make it to the team.

The growth of women's football in India has been rapid.

The first Indian club to play in the prestigious Asian Football Confederation's Women's Club Championship was Gokulam Kerala FC.

This year's tournament is going to begin this week and the team is currently in Uzbekistan. The president said that they still hope to play.

Some players who have played in foreign clubs are raising the bar of the sport in India.

The ban could affect the players' moods.

The sport would have gotten a lot of publicity since it is a World Cup. The attention would have been on India. Many girls might have been inspired to start playing the sport after watching the games.

In the past, India has been suspended under the rule on autonomy.

Similar actions have been taken against countries in the past. The Pakistan Football Federation was banned under the same rule last year.

The AIFF in India was headed by a former council member. The Nationalist Congress Party is a leading opposition party in India.

The government regulations state that the president of AIFF can't hold the post again after completing three terms.

Even though his term ended in December 2020, he continued to serve as president. The federation was dissolved by the Supreme Court in May this year after Mr. Patel stepped down. The panel was appointed by the court.

The suspension will be lifted once the order to set up the committee is repealed, according to the statement.

"FIFA is in constant contact with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India and is hopeful that a positive outcome to the case may still be achieved."

The former captain of the Indian men's football team called the ban unfortunate.

He told reporters that he hopes the suspension will be lifted once AIFF elections are held.
