Liz Cheney called on Americans to join her fight against Donald Trump in her concession speech on Tuesday.

At her election night event in Jackson, Wyoming, Cheney said this was a fight for all of us.

I am a conservative. I believe in the principles of my party. She said that she loves her country more than she loves her party.

Cheney said that she called Hageman to concede defeat in the Republican primary.

"Our republic relies upon the goodwill of all candidates for office to accept the outcome of elections," Cheney said in what appeared to be a subtle dig at the former president.

Hageman got the most votes in the primary. She got the win. She agreed to concede the race. The election is over. The real work starts now.

Cheney brought up the fact that she won her reelection in Wyoming with an overwhelming majority of the vote.

I would have done the same thing again. There was a clear path to follow. It would have required me to go along with the lie about the election. It would have been necessary for me to allow his efforts to attack the foundations of our republic. I wouldn't take that path.

The principles that we are all sworn to protect are more important than any House seat or office in this land. I was aware of the political consequences of obeying my duty.

In Wyoming, Cheney faced a tough primary campaign against Trump to keep her job. She was one of the most prominent Trump critics in Congress after she voted to impeach him over the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

Trump was elected by a large margin in Wyoming. Hageman was shown to have a big lead over Cheney.

Cheney had previously acknowledged the serious threat to her reelection chances but emphasized that she would remain committed to her efforts to steer the Republican Party away from Trump Insider was told that if she lost her primary, her anti-Trump voice would stay in the national spotlight.

As vice chair of the House select committee investigating the Capitol attack, Cheney will continue to make her case against Trump as it holds more public hearings this fall.

We need to be very clear-eyed about what we need to do to defeat the threat. I have said since January 6th that I will do everything in my power to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office.

"We will stand together against those who would destroy our republic," she said. They are determined, and angry at the same time. They have not seen anything like the power of Americans who are committed to the cause of freedom. We will prevail because there is no greater power on this planet.
