Aaron Rodgers shares frustrations with receiving corps' mistakes (0:58)

After practice, Rodgers wasn't happy with his receiving corps. There is a time and a place.

The age of the Green Bay Packers' young pass catchers must have been August 16.

Rodgers expressed some frustration with the group for the first time since the loss of Davante Adams.

Rodgers said that the young guys need to be more consistent. There were a lot of bad route decisions. We need to improve in that area.

The frustration wasn't directed at Allen, it was directed at the other way around. It wasn't pointed at Sammy Watkins, who Rodgers said had his best day, or one of the premier slot receivers in the league.

Rodgers' tolerance with the others appeared to have waned following Tuesday's penalty-filled practice against the New Orleans Saints.

Jordan Love made three mistakes in Friday's preseason opener.

The regular season is coming up. It is coming up. It's definitely true. When the season begins, we're going to play our best players. Those guys will get the reps. The guys I trust the most are the guys the coaches trust the least. The responsibility in the offense is the most common one. Are you in the right place at the right time for everything? Are you following the correct path?

The fourth-round draft pick has been hampered by drops, including two in the preseason opener, as well as making tough catches in practice and scoring a touchdown. He let go of the ball after he beat Roby.

Rodgers said that he wasn't talking about that play as part of his criticism, but that was his best throw of the day.

Rodgers pointed out that the first one to Tyler Davis was a dropped pass, the second was not a great route, and the third was not a great finish, alluding to the fact that Love was responsible for his pick six against the 49ers.

You're not going to be on the field. The most reliable guys are going to be the ones out there. It's important that the job responsibility is prepared. There's going to be physical mistakes, like we've talked about, but if you're going out there and dropping the ball and someone else catching the ball, that guy is going to play.

Rodgers and the offense had a hard time against the Saints' defense. They were able to score a game-winning field goal in their only practice.

Lazard said the offense is growing. The thing is coming along. We had a lot of false starts, a lot of missed signals and things like that, which is not the standard that we've had in the past. There's a lot to be improved on from that point of view. I thought we did a good job.

There will be more choices for Rodgers.

The highest-drafted receiver by the Packers in 20 years has yet to practice. He will have to catch up to get on the same page with Rodgers after he was activated from the physically unable to perform list.

Tonyan hasn't been cleared for full-team drills despite being activated off the physically unable to perform list. There is a chance that Elgton will be the new starting right tackle.

Rodgers said that Christian would be a work in progress. It's good to get him through the walk-through. I told him I was going to be testing him every single day in the reps to make him think about the right things when he's out there. I think all of them may have a chance to play, because we have four weeks until the first game.
