The bill was approved by the House along party lines on Friday, after the Senate passed it with the help of the Vice President.

The final part of Biden's domestic agenda, the new bill, will be the focus of his tour. The bill will be celebrated on September 6.

Key Background

The Inflation Reduction Act is an abbreviated version of Biden's bill that failed in the Senate last December. Democrats stopped trying to get Manchin to support the bill after they reached a deal on a smaller package. The largest investment in clean energy in US history is included in the bill. There is a $35 monthly cap oninsulin, an expensive diabetes drug, for Medicare recipients next year. Corporations that make at least $1 billion a year in income will be subject to a minimum tax. According to the White House, the package is expected to address inflation by cutting health care costs and trimming hundreds of billions of federal deficit dollars.

The $430 billion climate and health bill was passed by the house.
