The police spoke to Andersen after he was bombarded with death threats and abuse on the internet.

The Eagles defender was headbutted by Darwin Nunez, who was red-carded by the referee and now faces a three- match ban for violent conduct.

Andersen took to social media to share a sample of abuse he had received since the incident.

After the incident on Monday Night Football, Andersen says he has received a lot of abuse.

Andersen included several examples of abuse he suffered before ending his message with a plea for help from the premier league.

On his debut for the Reds, Nunez was shown a straight red card for his part in the incident with Andersen.

Crystal Palace will report the abuse the player received to the police.

Meta is in contact with Andersen's representatives as they can't take action until they use their in-app tools to report the messages.

The spokesman said that they have strict rules against harassment and that they are in touch with the team.

We need someone to report the message in the app before we can take action because we don't look for hate speech or bully in the same way we look in other places. We are continuing our work with the industry and the government to help keep our community safe from abuse.

Sky Sports News requested a reply from the league.

Gary is on Monday night football.

It's a crazy time. Andersen will feel that.

We don't understand why he did it. I have done things like this in the past. We have no idea why we react. We don't know what to think. We think, "what did I just do?" I kicked a ball at a fan at a game and did the same thing at another game. The mist is red. It's over you.

It's the most isolated place in the world when you're sent off like that. It's terrible if you have a kit man with you. You're in the dressing room and your teammates are on the field. You feel terrible for leaving them down.

You don't have to say much to a player that has been sent off as they take responsibility for their actions. He would have gone to the dressing room to apologize. He will be picked up by the rest of the guys in the dressing room.
