The content moderation models of TikTok have been put under scrutiny byOracle to make sure Chinese officials don't interfere with them. The data that TikTok has on US users will be moved to the cloud based in the country. According to reports, the audit began last week after TikTok began redirecting traffic from US users to its systems.

To ensure that outcomes are in line with expectations and that the models have not been manipulated, the reviews look at how TikTok's algorithm bubbles up content. There is a question of what it means by manipulation in this case. TikTok's practices related to automation and human content reviewers will be looked at regularly by Oracle.

The Trump administration tried to force a sale of TikTok. The deal that former President Donald Trump gave tentative approval to would have put Walmart in charge of the American side of the business.

TikTok is trying to convince regulators and lawmakers that its user data is safe. In a letter to nine Republican senators, the CEO of TikTok stated that the company was working with Oracle on new, advanced data security controls.

Engineers at the parent company of TikTok were asked a question by the senators. " ByteDance engineers around the world may assist in developing those algorithms, however our solution with Oracle will ensure that training of the TikTok algorithm only occurs in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and will also ensure appropriate third-party security vetting and validation of the algorithm," he wrote.

ByteDance engineers accessed non-public data on TikTok's American users multiple times. Those workers were only able to access the information with the help of a US-based security team.

Brendan Carr, the Federal Communication Commission's senior Republican Commissioner, urged Apple and Google to remove TikTok from their app stores. The global security chief resigned last month.
