A 12-year-old player from Utah, whose team is set to play in the Little League World Series, had to undergo emergency surgery for a severe head injury after falling off the top bunk of a bed.

Easton Oliverson, a pitcher and outfielder for the Snow Canyon team out of Santa Clara, Utah, suffered a head injury when he fell in a dorm. He is currently in intensive care at a children's hospital.

Spencer Beck, Easton Oliverson's uncle, told the Salt Lake Tribune that his nephew went through a lot of surgery to get to where he is. All of the steps are moving in the right direction.

Beck told the newspaper that Oliverson is in the intensive care unit. His family said that Oliverson had injuries to his head and cheekbone.

Beck said that one of his teammates woke him up when his nephew fell.

Beck said that he might not have made it if another player hadn't woken him up.

The Snow Canyon team is going to play in the Little League World Series on Friday. There is an hour and a half later. Jace is Oliverson's dad.
