About 100 contract-based recruiters have been laid off by Apple in the last week.

The recruiters were told that the layoffs were due to changes to Apple's business needs.

Apple is not the only company that has slowed hiring. As they wrestle with inflation and tighten their belts ahead of a potential economic downturn, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and other companies have slowed hiring.

In a CNBC interview last month, CEO Tim Cook said that he sees inflation in the cost structure. Logistics and wages are things that we see it in. We are doing it on a deliberate basis.

The layoffs were not commented on by Apple.

According to the report, not all of the company's contractors were let go, and Apple is still keeping its full time recruiters on board. The terminated contractors will be paid for the next two weeks.
