In September, Walmart will add a perk to its membership program that will make it more competitive. Walmart will be adding Paramount Global's streaming service to Walmart+ in September. Walmart+ members will get a Paramount+ Essential subscription for free if they pay $122.95 a month or $98 a year for unlimited free delivery on orders over $35 across the US Walmart's membership prices will stay the same, but they will now come with an answer to Amazon's Prime Video.
It costs $5 a month or $50 a year for the Paramount+ Essential plan to stream content. Paramount's streaming service has shows and movies from a number of production studios. It gives users access to the CBS News Streaming Network and all local CBS stations.
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that Walmart was in talks with Disney and other companies to give one of their products to its members. Walmart and Paramount have agreed to a two-year partnership that will give Walmart+ members access to the ad-supported streaming service, according to reports. There will be an exclusive partnership between the two for the first year, but it's not clear what will happen after the second year.
Since its launch in 2020, Walmart's membership program has shown growth. Even after pulling out of Russia, Paramount's streaming service added over 3 million subscribers in the second quarter. We will have to wait until the companies publish their earnings results by the end of the year to know if the partnership boosted their numbers further.
