An American Airlines passenger has told Insider that her daughter's luggage hasn't been returned two months after she checked it in on a flight to North Carolina.
Beth Gill said that they packed carry-on bags because they didn't want to have to go through baggage claims.
Gill and her husband were going to fly from Phoenix to Charlotte, North Carolina on June 16 with a connection to Raleigh, after spending two weeks in Las Vegas.
She said that American Airlines told her husband and daughter they needed to check their carry-on bags because there wasn't enough room in the overhead lockers. Gill claimed that there was room in the lockers.
My husband thought it was crazy. Gill said that they were going to lose their luggage. He had a feeling about something.
People ran to catch flights and the airport was in disarray when the family arrived.
The flight from Charlotte to Raleigh was canceled around two and a half hours after it was supposed to leave.
She was told the next flight to Raleigh would be on Sunday night. Gill told Insider that the family wasn't offered a place to stay or a car to drive.
She said that she and her family were forced to sleep in the airport because they couldn't find a hotel.

The Gill family caught a train to Raleigh on Friday instead of waiting until Sunday. The tickets cost $94.50 and were seen by Insider shows. She spent $85 on rides on the ride-sharing service.

The Charlotte airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. More than 4.3 million passengers flew to and from the airport in June, which is 40,000 more than the same month last year.
