Developers can now try out a preview version of Microsoft's cloud-powered workstations. The Microsoft Dev Box is an easy way for developers to test their applications in the cloud. App and service designed for developers to quickly access pre configured workstations are included in the box.

Developers can preview Azure Virtual Desktop machines from a modern browser if they choose, thanks to the help of Windows365. Any integrated development environment, software development kit, or tools that run on top of Windows will be supported by Microsoft Dev Box machines.

Microsoft will allow developers to preview a box that has eight virtual CPUs and 32 gigabytes of ram. Businesses can try out the first 15 hours of free usage, along with the first 512 hours of storage. Developers and businesses will only pay for what they use when final pricing is in place. Microsoft will charge organizations per hour for compute and storage.

Microsoft will provide support for machines with up to 128 gigabytes of memory. Each machine in the local region is equipped with gigabit connection speeds and can be deployed by developers. It's ideal for managing older versions of apps for certain customers because Microsoft has created a portal for developers to organize their boxes.
