Students who usually run toward a fight to watch instead ran away when there was noise like a fight, someone at the scene said. It made sense that people were running away after being told about the gun.

The student was taken into custody and was going to be sent to a juvenile hall. In a message to parents, the principal said that students were escorted to safe locations.

She said that the issues had been resolved and that the rest of the day would be normal.

The cause of the fight was being investigated by officials.
