I asked #Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes if Buehler needed Tommy John surgery here was his response, "Waiting to hear from Dr. El Attrache after the surgery for further guidance/information".

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported that prior to Monday's announcement, Los Angeles was cautiously optimistic that Buehler would be ready for the playoffs.

Buehler left a start against the San Francisco Giants due to elbow pain.

The two-time All-Star told reporters after the game that his level of concern is a little bit heightened because he had Tommy John surgery in 2015.

Buehler was placed on the injured list by LA. Dave Roberts said his pitcher will be out for a while.

The Dodgers have a short staffed pitching staff. One month was lost because of inflammation in his sacroiliac joint. The pitcher was activated on June 11.

The Dodgers have been the best team in baseball this season despite their injuries. Tony Gonsolin is having the best season of his career with a 2.24 earned run average in 21 starts.

He was off to a slow start. He wants to get back to his normal form in the next season.
