Trump was more directly involved with seizing voting machine data.

Newly acquired emails and records by The Washington Post show that former President Donald Trump tried to get access to voting machine data.

A team of experts from a forensic data firm was hired by lawyers allied with Trump to look at election systems in at least three states. According to The Washington Post, the firm charged an upfront retainer fee for each state, one of which was $26,600.

The firm's team of experts was instructed by Sidney Powell, a former Trump campaign lawyer, to copy election data in Michigan and Detroit. The Washington Post reported that one of the Trump campaign lawyers ordered the team to go to Nevada in order to get data from a voting system in Coffee County. Georgia's election system had been copied, according to the documents collected through a subpoena issued to the Atlanta-based SullivanStrickler. In June of this year, Michigan State Police issued warrants to seize voting equipment and election records from three towns and one county.

The New York Times reported earlier this year that Trump was involved in attempts to seize voting machines as he tried to cope with the loss of the 2020 elections. The former president is accused of using federal authority to take over voting systems because of voting fraud. Rudy Giuliani was sued by the voting machine company for spreading false claims that the company rigged the election against Trump.

In a desperate attempt to deny the presidential election results, members of Trump's team and his allies insist that the former president should have won by larger margins.
