After the Justice Department released a list of documents seized in the search of the Mar-a-Lago property, Donald Trump claimed that the Federal Bureau of Investigations took his passport.
The agency stole his three passports, including one that was expired, as a part of the search, according to Trump.
He said the raid was an attack on a political opponent at a level never seen before in the country.
The documents that were released by the Justice Department did not mention the passports.
The National Passport Information Center says that U.S. citizens can hold more than one passport at the same time.
There were 20 boxes of materials recovered when federal agents searched Trump's Mar-a-Lago property last week. The FBI is looking into whether Trump violated the Espionage Act when he mishandled national security documents, which is one of the reasons why the agency released a copy of the search warrant. According to the Washington Post, investigators searched for classified documents related to nuclear material. The FBI raided Trump's property in connection to a broader probe into documents Trump brought to his Florida estate after his presidency ended. More records may still be at Mar-a-Lago after federal agents took more documents from Trump's property. The search has been framed as a political witch hunt.
The FBI took Trump's passports, he said.
The search warrant in the FBI's Trump Mar-A-Lago raid was not made public.
