There is a chance that the World Series game will be played at the latest date in World Series history.
The seventh game of the Fall Classic would be played on November 5. The most recent date that a game was played in a World Series was on Nov. 4 of 2001 and 2009.
Three World Series games were played on Nov. 1 or later in the 2001 and 2009 seasons. As many as four games could be played after the end of October, which is the traditional month for the Fall Classic, because the fourth game of this year's Series is scheduled for November.
There is a labor dispute between the owners and players that caused the World Series to be late. The season began with a delay on April 7.
There will be a new format for the playoffs. Instead of a pair of winner-take-all wild-card games, the first round will now consist of four best-of-three series, all played over the course of three days.
There will be four games on Friday and Saturday. Game 3s will take place on October 9. The entire wild-card round will be shown on the sports network.
The winner of the wild-card rounds will get a quick break before the LDS series. The National League games will be shown on Fox and the American League games will be shown on Turner.
Game 1 of the NLCS will take place on October 18th, while the ALCS will take place the next day. The NL contests will be carried by Fox and the ALCS will be shown by TBS.
Fox will carry the entire World Series. There will be travel days after the Games 2 and 5.
From the wild-card round through the end of the World Series, there will be live national coverage on Disney's radio network.
