The tiny house that was booked for four family members was too small.
The family was surprised to see it was smaller than they thought.
Two of them found a hotel and posted a video on TikTok.
They were in disbelief when they pulled up to the house their father had booked for them.
The vacation rental their dad booked wasn't a traditional home. It was a tiny home of just over 150 square feet and a 96 square foot loft.
She knew there was no way she, her brother, stepmom, dad, and two dogs would fit in the vacation rental.
All they could think about was laughing. They took a few videos of the realization and uploaded them to her account. The video was viewed more than 26 million times in a single day.
When they arrived, here's what happened.
A group of people from Massachusetts traveled to New York to drop off their son at college. The family was going to stay in Canton for two nights.
A hotel room was searched for by the two girls. When the Best Western was full, he turned to Vrbo and found a tiny house that had a queen bed in the loft and two chairs in the basement.
The space for four people was assumed to be enough by the father. The house was booked for two nights.
There was room for three people according to the Vrbo listing. According to the owner of the Vrbo, the family booked the tiny house for two adults and failed to mention any children or dogs.
On the day of the drive, the four of them drove in different cars.
She said that her father's reaction was the same. When he got out of the car, he said he would give you a hotel room.
Luckily, the nearby Best Western ended up having a vacancies, so Kylie and her brother stayed there while their parents shared a tiny house.
They toured the tiny house together.
Two pull-out chairs and an ottoman were the first things she saw when she entered. There was a ladder leading up to the bed. The kitchen and bathroom were behind the living room area.
There wasn't much room to walk around in the lower level of the home.
The tiny house on TikTok caught the attention of her and her brother. A lot of people asked for a tour of the house.
Chichester stepped in to give their own tour under the account "acltinyhouses" after seeing her video. Vrbo did not reply immediately.
She said that she didn't make fun of the listing, because she thought the tiny house was cute.
She said that she was making fun of her dad's mistake of thinking that all of them could sleep in that home.
The initial video might have been made with positive intentions, but the family didn't understand the negative effect her Tiktok has on our small business.
Some of the videos posted by the Keefe family were viewed in a negative way.
In an additional TikTok video posted by her stepmom, she says "we're going to go in and do a full tour of the tiny house." It should take about 8 seconds.
The family left the house in disarray, with one dog defecating multiple times in the lofted bedroom, and is currently working with Vrbo to get damage reimbursement.
