Were Tottenham lucky to snatch a draw vs. Chelsea? (2:00)

There was a 2-2 draw between Spurs and Blues in the premier league. There is a delay of 2 minutes.

1:14 PM ET

At the end of the game against Spurs, the mind went back to the handshake that took place at the Bridge.

In October of 2016 he was in charge of a team that had just beaten Manchester United. On Sunday, the opposing manager wouldn't let go until he had given him a piece of his mind, and on Monday, the opposing manager wouldn't let go until he had given him a piece of his mind. The "act like you've been there before" kind of advice was given to the man by the man.

He looked confused and nonplussed like on Sunday. It was the beginning of a nasty, needling feud that would turn into a nasty, needling feud that would turn into a nasty, needling feud that would turn into a nasty, needling feud that would turn into a nasty, needling feud.

It felt like bile between two people who don't like each other. This was a genuine shoot and no work was involved.

Do you think Tuchel and Conte are related? It would be silly to impose a ban on the league after both men were sent off. It's not as if their anger at the final whistle wasn't real, because it was; it's just that they're not going to get into a fight like the Conte-Mourinho fight. It arrived and then it left. The two guys aren't calculating enough to play mind games or mess with each other's heads, they're too laser focused. They're more alike than they think.

It's true that they'd gotten in each other's faces earlier in the game, and that Tuchel was equally angry at the ref and gutted that his team had conceded an injury time goal. The way he treats the handshake after the game is similar to how he would treat the doorman of a hotel. You don't know the guy, he doesn't know you, and neither of you cares if you nod. He will play along because society expects that. Don't ask him to pretend that it means anything, that it has anything to do with respect, or that it is a chance for him and his opposite number to share a laugh.

Tuchel and Conte had plenty of reasons to square up after the Sunday draw, but the censure and punishments shouldn't go further for what a heated exchange that won't linger throughout the season. Chris Brunskill/Fantasista/Getty Images

The breakdown came at that location. Tuchel was emotional and felt slighted when Conte gave the most perfunctory shakes without looking at him. It was about moving through the motions. When everyone does it, it's not a form of respect.

The man knows who he respects and who he does not. He has a lot of respect for Tuchel, both as a man and as a coach, and the question of showing it after every single game doesn't even cross his mind. We can assume that the post-handshake melee is worth something. When you're aggressive with him, he's aggressive back.

The heated exchanges between Antonio and Thomas were enjoyable.

Which one is Tuchel? He's been wound tighter than a drum. Roman Abramovich leaving, the sanctions imposed on the club, the uncertainty of this summer's transfer window, and the battle for a European spot at the end of last season are just a few examples.

Boehly, for all his goodwill, financial savvy and learning-on-the-fly smarts, is a guy who thought of a dugout as a place where guys in spikes and baseball caps chew gum. I think we can be understanding if Tuchel gets emotional and starts to boil over.

The premier league has a fine line. It wants managers to maintain decorum. These types of flash points are part of the show.

In a few years, they'll be coaching somewhere else, even if they're multimillionaires many times over. They are the same as any of the players or fans. The show is driven by that.

There is no reason to penalize that. Both big boys know they don't have anything to gain from a fight. This is the end of the story.

And if that doesn't happen. You can throw the book at them at that time. It would be performative from the premier league. It would be similar to a post game handshake.
