As he prepares for his first Test match as a 40-year-old, Anderson says he doesn't feel old or slowing down.

Anderson is expected to make his 173rd Test appearance in the first Test against South Africa at Lord's, which will be his 40th birthday.

He averaged 18.29 in three Tests against New Zealand and India.

Anderson said that it was not how he felt.

I don't think I'm slowing down. I don't have any goals in mind, I just want to enjoy my cricket.

The way we were asked to bowl as a bowling group made me feel rejuvenated. It was a new way of thinking. I'm excited to be a part of it and I loved the aggressive nature of it.

The captain of South Africa questioned whether England's aggressive approach could leave them embarrassed.

The bowler said that he doesn't think it needs to come undone. We know we can chase anything if we keep working harder.

"If we keep playing that entertaining mindset but also be smart with it - so in those periods where we can't go hell for leather with the bat, we soak up a bit of pressure and be smart about it."
