Charles Lehman, a Manhattan Institute fellow who works on the group's policing and public safety initiative, told Fox News Digital thatMinneapolis is a case study in what happens when municipal leaders demonize the police and criminal justice system for their political advantage.
Lehman said that homicides and other violence spiked in the city after the murder of George Floyd and the defund the police movement.
She needs to learn that "defund the police" hurt her.
Minneapolis's violent crime went up after Floyd died. In 1997 the city hit its all-time high of 97 homicides. Murders have declined this year but other crimes are on the rise.
Nine of the 14 categories on the website have seen a rise in crime. Motor vehicle theft in Minneapolis has gone up by 32.3% compared to the same time last year.
The year has seen a surge in carjackings, destruction of property, and assaults. The data shows that there has been an increase in the number of break and enters.
Lehman said that the increase in violent crime has been extended by the loosened COVID restrictions.
She supported the "defund the police" movement after Floyd's death.

The "defund the police" movement is a way of rethinking the current police system to build an entity that does not violate us, while relocating funds to invest in community services. The people who oppose this have always been against calls for systematic change.
The Minneapolis Police Department was the subject of a campaign to replace it.
Activists from the far left wanted to replace the Minneapolis Police Department with a Department of Public Safety. The amendment was placed on the ballot.
Deep-pocketed liberals supported the effort. The Open Society Policy Center gave $500,000 to the campaign.

Last Tuesday's Democratic primary centered on law enforcement, and it almost cost her a seat in Congress.
Don Samuels, a pro-police candidate and former Minneapolis City Council member, hammered the "Squad" member over her policing views and lost by less than 3000 votes. Samuels' candidacy was supported by the mayor of Minneapolis.
