The Brooklyn Nets will not allow themselves to be pawns in a trade.

According to Brian Windhorst, on Get Up, there has been no progress in trade talks despite Kevin Durant trying to exert pressure on the Nets.

The two men met in London ten days ago. KD asked for Steve Nash and Sean Marks to be fired. Guess what has happened. There's nothing. There has been nothing. There hasn't been a change in the dynamics around Kevin Durant. Trade talks have not been urgent. The Brooklyn Nets' strategy has not changed.

The study of leverage is what we have here. The Nets don't have a lot of leverage in trade talks. They are not giving them what they want. They don't see why they should be increased. They are not making any headway there. Kevin Durant doesn't have a lot of leverage with the Nets. Get me traded. The coach needs to be fired. It's time to fire the GM. When you deny leverage, you have a stalemate.

The trade request was made in the middle of June. The Nets set a massive price tag in trade talks and teams fell short of their demands, as the situation moved at a slow pace.

The Athletic and Stadium's Shams Charania reported last week that the team's general manager, Marks, and coach, Nash, were both told that they had to leave or be replaced by another person. After word of the meeting leaked, Tsai went on the offensive and said he would stick by his coach and GM.

Our front office and coaching staff have my support. We will make decisions in the best interest of the Brooklyn Nets.

Unless a team gives the Nets a better offer, the tension will be on the back burner until training camp starts. That's the time when KD can try to exert power, possibly holding out of camp or creating a media circus.

The best leverage play for KD is to make the situation difficult. In order to end the fiasco, Tsai's hand would have to be forced into approving a deal. It is possible that the Nets will create a bidding war in order to save face in trade talks.

The original asking price of two All-Star players was never going to be met. It was not realistic.

It's possible that teams will be willing to budge if they start to feel like they're getting closer to sending KD to another team. There is no reason for teams to change their offers until the pace of talks improves.
