The year has been good for monitors. We got the world's first QD-OLED monitor from Alienware and another one fromMSI. Sony launched its new Inzone brand of gaming hardware. The Odyssey Ark is a whole new level from the previous ones.

The Ark has a huge quantum miniLED panel with a 1000R curve that gives it a good sound. The Ark is the world's first 55-inch monitor with a 4K resolution, 165 Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time, as well as support for Dolby Atmos audio. The Ark has a total of six speakers, including one in each corner and two in the back, which makes it sound better than most monitors. The speakers of the Ark were designed to create a dome of sound, according to the company.

This monitor is unlike anything else on the market, and I was able to check it out in person. The Ark's dimensions allow it to wrap around you in a high tech way. The colors are rich and you don't have to worry about reflections ruining your graphics. You can get the best performance on a console or PC with the support of the monitor. The Ark's contrast is 4 times better than its previous-gen monitors and you won't see pure blacks.

You don't have to worry about keeping the remotes charged because they have solar panels. The first remote is similar to what you would get with a TV, but the wireless Ark Dial is more special. It allows you to quickly change video settings, volume and display modes. It's easy to use, and you don't have to reach around back and forth with hidden buttons, like you do with a lot of rival monitors

Unlike most displayers this size, the Odyssey Ark supports portrait orientation, which Samsung calls Cockpit mode.

The Ark has all the modes and features you need to get the most out of it. In case you don't need the Ark's full 55 inches, there's Flex Move Screen, which allows you to adjust the size of your content. There is a gaming hub that supports game streaming platforms. It's not possible to see the back of the display with so much screen between you and the back of the display.

The Multi View mode allows you to have up to three different apps open at the same time, with the ability to move and resizing windows. You can either game while having a movie and social media on the side or double up by having two games open. If you like a particular layout, you can save it so you can open it with a single press. You can only display content from the Ark's built-in apps and one external device at the same time due to a limitation ofHDMI. You can have a console and a PC plugged in at the same time, but you can't use both at the same time.

The Ark has a special move called Cockpit mode, which allows it to rotate into portrait orientation. Multi View and Flex Move are supported, but now on a display that curves up and over your head. It feels like you are sitting in the pilot's seat on the plane. I wish I could have taken advantage of the Ark's verticality in Cockpit mode if I had installed a shoot-em-up like Ikaruga. If you don't have a lot of desk space, you can get a VESA wall mount in the box.

The Odyssey Ark is a lot of money for anyone. If none of the other monitors are large enough for you, the new flagship gaming monitor from South Korea could be the one you need.
