Benjamin Mendy's trial is a chapter in a very old story of rape and sexual assault on women, jurors were told.

A 28-year-old man is accused of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault.

It had nothing to do with football and was more about men who think they are powerful.

The alleged victims were expendable to Mr Mendy, according to him.

Seven young women are accused of having sex at Mr Mendy's home.

The French international is on trial along with another man.

The pair denied all the allegations during their court appearance.

Men who rape and sexually assault women because they think they can get away with it is another chapter in a very old story.

The prosecutor said that the alleged victims' feelings were meaningless.

He said that the women were disposable and thrown to one side.

It was the result of deliberate, planned choices the defendants made.

He said that Mr Mendy's wealth and status made other people willing to help him.

He said that Mr Saha would find young women and create situations where they could be raped and sexually assaults.

The acts that the defendants did show callous indifference to the women they were after.

The stream of women they brought to their homes were just meant to be pursued for sex.

"Our case is that the defendants' pursuit of these 13 women turned them into predator, who were prepared to commit serious sexual offenses," Mr. Cray said.

The jurors will hear about the fact that they wouldn't take no for an answer.

The court heard how Mr Mendy's home, The Spinney, in Mottram St Andrew, was a part of how he and Mr Saha were able to abuse their alleged victims.

Nine young women came to the address and later made complaints of rape and sexual assault against the defendants.

There are at least four separate complaints against Mr Saha relating to allegations outside of Mendy's house.

The jury was told that the victims were vulnerable due to the isolation of the house.

Some victims thought they were in a locked room, while others said their phones were taken away.

The victims were vulnerable because of the different ages and wealth of the defendants.

"Vulnerable, scared, isolated - these are words you'll hear from a lot of the witnesses," he said.

Who had the power and control in the situations these women experienced and will you hear about it?

The trial is expected to go on for three months.
