DJ LeMahieu has a foot/toe issue, according to the New York Yankees.

LeMahieu is going to get an x-ray on Monday.

He is hitting.279 with 12 home runs this season.

A wrist issue slowed him down, but he has avoided injuries this season. There could be more bad news for the veteran.

He had surgery for a core muscle injury in October and ended the season on the injured list.

It was a steep decline from his previous two years in New York, when he finished in the top five of the voting for the Most Valuable Player. During the shortened 2020 season, LeMahieu led the league with a.364 average, 1.011 OPS, and 10 home runs.

The Yankees rewarded him with a six-year, $90 million deal before the start of the 2021.

With his ability to line up at first base, second base and third base, LeMahieu is an important player for New York. Losing him for an extended period of time could hurt the team's chances.
