Alex Bregman's 2-run homer puts the Astros on the board first (0:26)

Alex Bregman hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to give the Astros a 2-0 lead. There is a time and a place.

Alex Bregman delivered on a young fan's request for a home run hours after representatives of the Houston Astros hosted members of Texas' Uvalde community.

The Astros took a 2-0 lead over the A's on the strength of a first-inning home run by Bregman.

"After I hit one for Uvalde, he said, 'Hey, you hit one for Uvalde!'" said Bregman, who drove in two runs in the win.

500 family members and friends of the victims of the May 24 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School are going to the Astros game on Sunday.

Astros owner Jim Crane spoke to the group at the meet and greet and answered questions.

A little girl who was at the school at the time of the shooting asked Altuve what happened. She asked Altuve to hit a home run for her.

While it was Bregman who came through with the home run, Altuve followed by doubling home two runs in the second, as the American League West leaders built a big early lead en route to their fourth consecutive victory and a sweep of the Oakland A's.

A group of 3000 people from Uvalde were given free tickets to the game by the Astros.

They were able to watch the Astros win. Hopefully they had a good time at the game and can continue to enjoy watching the Astros for a long time.

The sister of a child killed in the shooting threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The families are still dealing with the tragedy, and Baker hoped the day could distract them.

He said this was what they were here for. We're here to help the healing of people, not only for ourselves, but for our teammates as well.

The team raised money for those affected by the shooting at the game.

"Anything we can do for them, that's what it was," said Bregman. They were here today. The Astros have done something to help the healing process.
