The Artemis I mission will be NASA's biggest launch of the year, and it will send an uncrewed spaceship into space and return it to Earth. NASA needs to test its new rocket and capsule to make sure they are safe and ready for use.
Artemis I will launch from Launch Complex 39B at the Kennedy Space Center and make a flyby of the moon to collect scientific data as well as test out the new technology. The entire launch event will be streamed on the agency's website on August 29th. The launch of the Space Launch System rocket is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 18.

The rocket currently located in the Vehicle Assembly Building at Kennedy is being worked on by NASA. The flight terminated system test is a part of this. The access platforms which allow crew access to the rocket will be removed once this is completed.
