According to reports, a man died after he crashed his car into a barricade.
The incident took place near 2nd Street and East Capitol Street.
The man drove his car into the barricade at East Capitol Street and Second Street. The man got out of the car and it caught fire. Several shots were fired into the air by the man.
The statement said that officers were near the man when he shot himself. The man's background is being investigated, but at this time it doesn't appear that he was targeting any lawmakers, who are currently on break.

The man was found dead on the east front of the Capitol. I don't know the identity or motivation of the shooter.
