The document that former President Donald Trump signed to commute the prison sentence of his friend Roger Stone was seized by the FBI.

Top secret and other classified documents that were seized that day are listed in the property receipt filed by the Department of Justice.

Stone became a member of the former president's inner circle after helping Trump get elected. He was found guilty of lying to Congress in order to protect the president.

According to the grant of clemency, at the time of Trump's actions, Stone was being supervised by a pretrial services office. When Trump commuted his sentence in 2020, he was about to report to prison for 40 months.

The ends of justice don't require Roger Stone, Jr. to remain confined to his home or serve the sentence, and the safety of the community will not be jeopardized if he is released from home confinement and clemency is granted.

Clemency to Roger Stone was granted by the president.

There are three laws that the Department of Justice was seeking warrants for. One of them makes it a crime to destroy or conceal certain documents, including court documents.

The clemency document is most likely related to that law, not the more serious crimes related to obstruction and espionage, according to Michael Ferrara, who worked as a federal prosecutor.

They may be wanting to get back.

Stone is at the center of the investigation into the attack on the Capitol. Stone declared himself a "Western chauvinist" after taking the Proud Boys oath and interacting with extremists.

Stone wanted the president to follow his plan after the attack. The document encouraged Trump to pardon Stone for crimes related to trying to overturn the 2020 election.
