A group of American lawmakers is in Taiwan just 12 days after a visit by Nancy Pelosi that upset China.
The American Institute in Taiwan said that the delegation will meet senior leaders to discuss U.S.- Taiwan relations, regional security, trade, investment and other issues. The U.S. government is represented by the institute.
China sent missiles, warships and warplanes into the skies and seas around Taiwan after Pelosi visited the island. The Chinese government does not approve of Taiwan having any official contact with foreign governments.
The video of the U.S. plane landing was shown on a Taiwanese TV station. Songshan Airport is in Taiwan's capital. The American Institute issued a statement soon after it was announced that the delegation would be in Taiwan on Sunday and Monday.
The other members of the delegation are a Republican and two Democrats.
At least 10 Chinese warplanes crossed the Taiwan Strait on Sunday, according to Taiwan's Defense Ministry.
There were 22 Chinese military aircraft and six naval ships detected in the area around Taiwan by 5 pm on Sunday.
