  • According to court documents, FBI agents recovered classified material during a raid on Mar-a-Lago.

  • According to sources, in the last days of the presidency, aides rushed to pack up documents.

  • According to one source, Trump did not start preparing to leave the White House until after January 6.

Between the January 6 Capitol attack, challenges to the 2020 election, and his impending second impeachment, President Donald Trump had some chaotic last days in office.

According to an NBC News report published Saturday, Donald Trump began instructing aides to pack up documents he was going to take with him to Mar-a-Lago.

Two sources with knowledge of the situation told the outlet that Trump's aides hurriedly packed documents and other materials into boxes and shipped them to Mar-a-Lago.

After months of lying about winning the election, Trump decided to leave the White House after his final two weeks in office, according to one source.

The source said it was a chaotic exit. Everything was put into the trucks by everyone. Things like the first lady's clothes were left in the storage room when they arrived at Mar-a-Lago. There was everything in a box.

The source said that Trump wasn't interested in the boxes and that he couldn't tell you which presidential papers he had.

According to court records, FBI agents raided Mar-a-Lago on Monday and took 11 boxes of classified materials. The raid was part of a Justice Department investigation into possible violations of three laws related to handling government records.

Trump denied any wrongdoing and claimed that he had declassified all the records at Mar-a-Lago.

According to the New York Times, one of Trump's lawyers told the Justice Department that all the classified documents had been returned. The report raises questions about how forthcoming the former president and his team have been with investigators.

Trump's office didn't reply immediately.

Trump developed a reputation for being careless with presidential records, which are required by law to be preserved. According to reports, Trump would either rip up papers or flush them down the toilet. He would ask his former staff to keep certain documents.
