Nicol: Man United can't handle being put under pressure (1:21)

Steve Nicol talked about the victory over Manchester United. There is a time and a place for it.

After a loss toBrighton in their opening match, Manchester United conceded four in the first half of a game against Brentford. United's defensive errors and lack of attacking conviction gave the Bees their first win over them in the premier league.

Rapid Reaction

Things go from bad to worse for the man.

This was worse than the Manchester United manager thought it was. It's much worse. After being up by four goals within half an hour, Ten Hag's team came back to win the game 4-3. Embarrassment is a big deal.

Ten Hag is the first United manager to lose his first two games since John Chapman in 1921 and they have lost their last seven away matches. It's the first time in 33 years that four league defeats in a row have happened. There were few United players who deserved to stay on after the first 45 minutes of the game because Ten Hag replaced many of them.

He desperately needs new players before the transfer deadline but he needs to see some fight from the people he has. After two games, two losses and a goal difference of minus five, United are bottom of the table. The next game is against the Reds.

David De Gea is under a lot of scrutiny.

There is a strong argument that David De Gea should not be in goal for Manchester United's game against the Reds on Sunday. His season went downhill after he was caught on his line when Villa scored a last-minute goal in a friendly in Perth. De Gea's passing was shaky in the defeat toBrighton as Ten Hag wanted his team to play out from the goalkeeper.

It was even worse against them. He let Josh Dasilva's shot go under his body and gift the opening goal to the Bees. The pass wasn't there and he was robbed by a teammate.

If Ten Hag decides to make a change, 36-year-old Tom Heaton, who made just one appearance last season, would likely come in against the Reds. The efforts to add another goalkeeper to the squad will intensify after De Gea's latest disaster.

Revenge will be given to Brentford.

After Man United's visit to Brentford in January, Thomas Frank was angry and upset. Even though they should have been out of sight by the half-time break, they missed a number of chances. They didn't do the same thing again.

United's inability to play out from the back, as well as long passes to Ivan Toney and pressure on the ball all over the pitch, led to the four goals. They only needed 30% possession to do it and converted four of their seven shots on target in a clinical display that exposed the weakness of the United team.

Even though they didn't deserve to lose to United here last season, they more than made up for it this time with a convincing victory. Frank and his team deserve a lot of credit for their game plan which humiliated Ten Hag and his team.
