  • Meta is testing secure backups for end-to-end encrypted Messenger chats.
  • Messenger will also make chats E2E encrypted by default for some people.
  • The company is also rolling out more tests on its E2E encrypted messages.

A number of tests are being rolled out to make end-to-end encryption a dominant security feature in Facebook Messenger.

If you lose your device or want to restore chat history on a new phone, Facebook has begun testing a secure storage feature.

End-to-end chats can be found on your device. You can use secure storage to restore your messages. Creating a PIN or generating a code is one way to do this. To restore your chat history, you can use third-party cloud services.

The default way to protect the history of your end-to-end conversations on Messenger will be written by Sara Su, the product management director for Messenger Trust.

The secure storage is available on both phones and tablets. The feature is not currently available on Messenger's desktop site or application. If you are a member of the test group, you don't need to do anything. When the feature is made available to everyone, this will be true as well.

Messenger's end-to-end encryption features are being updated by Meta.

Messenger's end-to-end encryption is opt-in and you will need to enable it. Some users are being tested on the default end-to-end chat.

The ability to unsend messages and bring end-to-end chat features to group chats are being tested.

The disappearing messages feature for end-to-end chats will still be retained.

The end-to-end test will be launched on the social media platform. It was only available as an opt in setting. The feature was introduced in Russia andUkraine. Everyone will be able to take the new test.
