According to The Washington Post political investigative reporter, the allies of former President Donald Trump are starting to distance themselves from the information in the Mar-a-Lago search warrant.

"Alarm has grown in recent days when you talk to advisers of the former president," said Dawsey, speaking on MSNBC.

Some of them are now trying to go dark, refuse to defend Trump, and hope to stay away from the issue.

Some advisers expressed shock when the raid took place. He said that the shock turned to alarm as more information came to light.

The Freedom Caucus canceled a press conference on Friday to discuss the FBI search of Trump's Florida estate. After Attorney General Garland asked a court to unseal the FBI search warrant, the decision was made.

Georgia's Marjorie Taylor Greene, Colorado's Lauren Boebert, and Florida's Matt Gaetz are all members of the Freedom Caucus.

The documents were labeled as Confidential, Secret, and Top Secret. An inventory list of the items retrieved included Trump's order to commutation Roger Stone's prison sentence, as well as information about the President of France.

There are people in Trump's circle who are close to him who are somewhat in the dark about what's going on.

One of the laws being investigated by the Department of Justice is the Espionage Act, according to the search warrant.

The Washington Post reporter said that certain advisers expected Trump to escape from being held accountable.

GOP strategists argue that Trump could spin the investigation into a narrative that would make him unbeatable in a Republican primary.
