Anshu Jain died last night after a long battle with cancer, his family said in a statement Saturday. He was older than the age of 59.

Jain worked at several financial firms, including Merrill Lynch, before moving toDeutsche Bank, where he was the president. He worked as a co-CEO.

Jain left his job atDeutsche before his contract ended because of regulatory issues.

He was a Trustee of British charity Chance to Shine, as well as being an advisor at Sofi.

He believed in hard work, meritocracy, operating outside of expectations or conventional boundaries, putting family first, and speaking at the margin rather than delivering plain facts.

Many people care for Anshu. His legacy is tenacity, honour, and love.
