Like those fitness-obsessed television hosts, they want you to get fit.

The company is hatching plans to add fitness-tracking tech and support for interactive home workouts to its Android TV platform and to incorporate those software features into smart TVs as well. If the vision comes to fruition, supported smart TVs would be able to be used to track a user's progress through a series of living room workouts. It will be similar to watching a Richard Simmons or Billy Blanks video that will show you your reps and measure your heart rate.

The details of how it will work are unknown, as the news came from a private meeting with other smart- home companies. It is obvious that Google is moving to compete with smart- home fitness services like Apple Fitness+, which uses an Apple Watch and an Apple TV.

Protocol says that this initiative could include expanded ability to connect wireless speakers with your tv. According to the report, these changes will most likely happen in 2023.

The shift to working out from home came at the start of the Pandemic. This offering could also be seen as a way for the company to unify its products. Fusing smart- home tech with your phone, computer, and TV makes it more likely that you'll use it.

The week in consumer tech has a lot to offer.

Apple is being called out for texting.

The company put out a PSA earlier this week that called on Apple to change the standards it uses for text messages. Apple converts messages to non-Apple devices into standard text messages instead of using the more richly featured RCS standard. Some important data can be lost in translation between platforms.

Apple's decision to not support RCS was blamed on Apple for not adhering to more modern standards by the search giant. It's likely that it's an attempt to level the playing field between Apple and Google when it comes to inter- device messaging, where the former enjoys significant competitive advantages over the latter It's ironic that a company that has introduced a dozen different messaging apps over the years and can't even keep the name of its messaging products right is asking for help. The campaign was taken to social media in order to get other people to join. Now the search engine is waiting for Apple to like the message.

A ring

Some people think that ring camera videos are not good. The company collects data about both its users and people caught on camera, then can share those videos with law enforcement. People are interested in the videos. There are a lot of videos on TikTok that show people and animals having fun. Amazon wants to make those clips into a show.

Wanda Sykes will host the show. There will be a collection of funny and horrifying videos of things that happen on peoples porches and in their yards. LivePD, a police documentary show that was canceled in the wake of George Floyd's murder, was produced by Big Fish Entertainment. The film Ring Nation will be released on September 26.
