Kyler Murray was able to use what he did in practice in the weeks leading up to the first preseason game of the season because he wasn't wearing a uniform.

During the fourth quarter of theCardinals' 36-23 win over theBengals, Murray helped call plays. Murray was on a headsetrelaying plays to the quarterback.

Kliff Kingsbury said after the game that the two kneel-down plays were not Murray's preferred choice of plays. Arizona ran three pass plays and two run plays on both of Murray's series.

There was a sack on a play. On those plays, the Cards gained 15 yards.

He called a few plays. The thing didn't work out. Some men were open. He does a great job with it. I've been pleased with what I've seen.

Murray was not given any parameters. When Arizona got the ball back with 1:14 left in the game, Kingsbury put the kibosh on the idea of Murray throwing the ball.

"It wasn't going to happen," he said.

He didn't want to add any more pressure to Murray and took his headset off. It was a relief to be rid of playcalling.

He said he enjoyed it. The administrative head coach role fits me. I might just figure that out. I would be able to sleep for a long time.

It's fun to be able to watch the overall macro perspective and not always be so consumed with play calls and things of that nature.

Murray has not practiced since August 5 due to a sore wrist. He used a handheld mic to call them. He didn't want to commit to Murray calling more plays, but he wanted to keep the quarterback involved.

Murray found a new way to be involved. He handed out water to his teammates. Murray was embracing whatever role he was playing.

He's done a good job. He's a tough coach and he likes doing it.
