The New York Jets started their preseason in the worst possible way, as quarterback Zach Wilson injured his knee on the second series and was forced to leave the game.
Wilson's knee appeared to buckle on a non-contact injury as he ran out of the pocket and tried to outrun the Philadelphia Eagles. He went down with an awkward fall. He fell to the turf in obvious pain after getting up.
Last season, it was the same knee that was injured. Wilson missed four games due to a PCL injury.
Wilson threw an pick up on the Jets' fifth play. He was hurt after four plays.
Third-stringer Mike White took his place. Joe Flacco was not given the night off.
Wilson has high hopes for his second year after a difficult first. Their entire winter was devoted to Wilson. The Jets believed the supporting cast would improve Wilson's game.
