According to the Wall Street Journal, 11 sets of classified records were taken from former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago property by federal agents on Monday.
The Journal reviewed a three-page list of items seized in the search and found documents classified as top secret.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation took about 20 boxes, including photos, a handwritten letter, and a grant of clemency for Roger Stone, a Trump ally, according to the Journal.
The Journal reported that the search warrant was approved by a federal judge and stated that investigators wanted to search all of the storage rooms the former president and his staff used.
According to the Journal, Trump doesn't have an affidavit related to the search that would give more information, but his attorneys have asked for more information on what was recovered from the property.
The Washington Post reported Thursday that the FBI was looking for classified documents related to nuclear weapons, as well as records about a "special access program" related to "EXTREMELY sensitive operations carried out by the United States abroad or for closely held technologies and capabilities."
The Attorney General wants to release information about what was taken from the property during the FBI raid. Trump wants the documents to be released immediately. His lawyers have less than an hour to respond. The deadline for opposing the motion was set by the justice department.
Federal investigators searched Trump's home on Monday for hours as part of a probe into why 15 boxes of government documents were taken to Mar-a-Lago instead of being in federal custody. White House documents must be given to the National Archives after a president leaves office. According to reports, the raid came after federal agents visited Trump's property and removed items, and after confidential sources told agents more classified documents may still be at the private club. The search has been framed as political persecution.
