It has been a long time since the last full Harry Potter game was released for consoles, but we will be able to play it soon. Warner Bros. Interactive is publishing the game under the Portkey Games label. It has been in the works for a long time, and up until recently, there was very little information about the game.

After its official reveal during the PlayStation 5 event in September 2020, development quietly went on in the background, until a March 2022 State of Play event gave us a lot of details about the game. We searched the internet to find out as much as we could about the upcoming game.

We know a lot about Hogwarts Legacy.

It is recommended that you read it.

The PS5 event in September 2020 gave us a first look at a number of games, one of which was Hogwarts Legacy. The official reveal trailer depicts the game's tone and visual style, as well as giving us a look at what to expect from the Hogwarts castle itself. There is only cinematics in the trailer, and they don't show the actual game. It wasn't unusual to only get a cinematic trailer at that point.

The game is described in the trailer above.

There is a new story at Hogwarts in the 1800's. Your character is a student who holds a secret that threatens to destroy the wizarding world. Fight Dark wizards and decide the fate of the wizarding world.

The most robust look at Hogwarts Legacy to date was offered in a 14-minute trailer in March of 2022.

The State of Play will take place on March 17th, 2022.

The first look at the game's mechanics was shown in the presentation. There will be a skill tree, a party system, various gear to collect and upgrade, a rich combat system, and a massive castle to explore. The visual style of the game is impressive. The style of characters created by Avalanche Software is unique.

Release date

Hogwarts Legacy will launch on February 10, 2023 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The Nintendo Switch launch date will be revealed soon. The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience. pic.twitter.com/zh0EsOvDb7

The launch of Hogwarts Legacy will take place on February 10, 2023. There is a delay in the release of Nintendo Switch.

The game was supposed to be released in 2021, but was delayed to 2022. The game was delayed so that it could be given the time it needed. The development of this game is thought to have been impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The quality of the final product is of paramount importance to Warner Bros.

During the State of Play presentation, it was announced that Hogwarts Legacy would launch during the holiday season in 2022.

Platforms

Despite being revealed during the PS5 event, Hogwarts Legacy is a multi platform game and will come to PC, PS4, PS5 and even Nintendo Switch. The Switch edition doesn't seem to be a cloud based game like Control and will run on the system. It is likely that the game will need to be adjusted for the Switch edition to work properly. There will be more information about this version in the coming months.

It is not known if the game will feature a next- generation upgrade like many cross- generation titles have included recently.

Many people are wondering how the previous-gen version will be different from the current-gen build. We hope the PS4 and Xbox One editions don't hold back the full game on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Gameplay

You will attend the school of witches and wizards in the game. You will be sorted into one of the four houses and able to attend classes to hone your magic skills. Warner Bros. has not said how this will work. The castle and surrounding areas will be accessible to players.

The trailer depicts characters casting spells and battling against terrifying beasts, so it is likely that you will have many opportunities to partake in magical combat against witches and wizards. There are sections within the trailer that show different types of animals that could serve as companions.

The leveling system in the game is likely to enhance your character as you progress through the school. It is not clear how this will work, but it will be tied to your classes and other performance based sections of the game.

Harry Potter won't be around since he wasn't born until the late 1900s. It doesn't mean we won't get a reference to Potter, but don't expect to play him in the movie.

There is an official explanation of what to expect from the game.

As they master powerful spells, hone combat skills, and pick companions, players will be able to face off against deadly enemies. There will be missions and scenarios that pose difficult choices for players to make.

The State of Play presentation gave an in-depth look at the current state of play. The players will begin their journey as fifth-year students, with the option to personalize their witch or wizard, complete with a Sorting Hat ceremony and all. The goal is to hone your skills in classes such as Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts.

Combat in Hogwarts Legacy.

You'll use the skills you've learned to uncover secrets within the castle itself, but the journey doesn't stop there. Outside the castle walls there is a massive area to explore, with dungeon-esque areas to overcome and famous places to visit. You will definitely need to improve your spellcasting skills if you want to defeat the witches and wizards within these areas.

Combat will be a major part of the game and it will work like many fast-paced action games. Instead of using melee weapons, you will use spells to levitate your enemies, manipulate objects that surround you, and deal fire damage. Chaining together spells will make the game feel fast and frenetic.

You have many talents to apply to your character, from stealth-oriented abilities to different combat techniques and collectibles. The loot mechanic makes it feel like a fantasy game.

Multiplayer

Two characters in Hogwarts Legacy.

The game is expected to be a single player adventure. As part of a lengthy FAQ, Warner Bros. has ruled out the possibility of a single player component.

It might seem obvious, but there's a lot of logic to the story of the wizarding world. Traveling through dangerous dungeons with friends is something we can imagine. There's a lot in the world of Harry Potter that makes sense when playing with others, but for now we should just expect Hogwarts Legacy to focus on a single-player component

DLC

The Sorting Hat ceremony in Hogwarts Legacy.

We can only speculate about possible DLC that could be added at a later time since we don't know much about the base game. Extra companions or spells to use could be added after the game is launched.

There could be some interesting games-as-a-service elements added if the game eventually features an online component. It is too early to say if the possibilities are endless or not. DLC plans have not been made public.

Pre-order

It's not surprising that the game isn't available to pre-order just yet. When Warner Bros. releases the pre-order times, we will update this article. We'll have to wait for more information. Right about now, Time-Turner would be useful.

Controversy

Many long time Harry Potter fans were not happy and questioned if they should support the game. According to the FAQ section of the game, J.K. Rowling is not directly involved in the creation of the game. This isn't a new story from J.K.

The events of the last few weeks have made Warner Bros. resolve to confront difficult societal issues. fostering a diverse and inclusive culture has never been more important to Warner Bros. Our storytellers give a lot of themselves in sharing their work with us all. We know that we have a responsibility to promote understanding of all communities and people, particularly those we work with and those we reach through our content.

Warner Bros. declined to comment on whether or not they would get royalties from the movie.

Many industry veterans took a hard stance on the matter due to the recent State of Play presentation. Earl wrote a detailed breakdown of the situation for Gamespot.

The best thing allies can do in discussing the #HogwartsLegacy State of Play today is to use the opportunity to draw attention to the harm Rowling & GC folks cause trans people. This isn’t to say don’t enjoy the game, but Rowling herself opened the door to the discussion. Use it.

Fanbyte refused to cover the game in a traditional way, instead linking to trans charities to support the game.
