Telus wants the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to allow it to charge a credit card processing fee.

Telus said in a letter to the federal regulators that the fee will apply to new and existing customers.

Telus plans to inform existing customers of the new fee in August.

The company gave an example of how the fee will be calculated for a customer in the province, with a 1.5 per cent fee and a bill of $100. The customer would pay $106.
