There were flash flood warnings in southern Nevada, far southeastern California and Arizona after pockets of heavy rain and thunderstorms swept across the Southwest. The storms knocked out power to a lot of people in Las Vegas and caused flooding.
The site typically observes for August an average of 0.25 of an inch of rain from the airport. The surrounding neighborhoods received between 0.25 and 0.75 of an inch of rain. Thursday was the driest day at the airport in more than two years.

The monsoon season in the Southwest lasts from June 15 to September 30 and Las Vegas is currently up to 1.28 inches of rain. The monsoon season in Las Vegas has been the wettest in four years.
There was a brief burst of rain that caused Las Vegas Boulevard to flood. Videos of rain pouring in through the ceilings of businesses were taken by casino guests. There were many cases of water damage and flooding on the Las Vegas Strip due to the monsoon.

Wind gusts at the airport reached speeds of 55 mph as the storms moved across the valley. According to the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center, a sensor at Allegiant Stadium recorded a storm gusts of 64 mph. At 11 pm. More than 12,000 Nevada Energy customers were in the dark.
According to Power Outage.US, the number of power outages in the Las Vegas area gradually decreased throughout the early morning hours on Friday.
Numerous flash flood warnings were issued across an expansive area on Thursday. The storms could cause flash flooding in washes, streams and low water crossing.
The Moenkopi Wash near Tuba City, Arizona, was one of the select rivers and washes to surpass major flood stage. The northern part of the state is called Tuba City.
