Ring’s new TV show sounds like a dystopian America’s Funniest Home Videos

Ring, the Amazon-owned home security company that will sell you a camera just as quickly as it will give law enforcement access to that same camera's footage without a warrant, is producing a television show. It's a family activity.

The production company behind Live P.D., Big Fish Entertainment, is said to be behind Ring Nation, a new America's Funniest Home Videos-style clip show.

Ring founder and Ring Nation executive producer Jamie Siminoff said in the press release that bringing the new community together is core to their mission at Ring. Wanda will be sharing people's memorable moments with viewers.

Amazon, which owns MGM Television, Big Fish, and Ring, has a vested interest in encouraging more people to outfit their homes with Ring technology. Ring owners who are interested in participating in Ring Nation will jump at the chance to have Wanda Sykes comment on what they capture around their homes.

Ring Nation is a thinly-veiled attempt at changing the idea and practice of people constantly surveilling one another.

On September 26th, Ring Nation will be on television.
