John said that he was embarrassed that an Iranian military official only offered $300,000 for his death.

The Department of Justice said on Wednesday that Shahram Poursafi, a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, had offered a bounty in response to the killing of Qassem Soleimani.

He was fired by Donald Trump in September.

I was not happy with the price. He joked that he thought it would have been higher. It could be an exchange rate problem.

He said that he had a general understanding of what the threat was, but wasn't aware of the details of the plot.

He said he wasn't surprised that the former Secretary of State had a $1 million bounty on his head. When contacted by Insider, the Justice Department wouldn't comment.

There are a lot of people who are vulnerable to the Iranians.

He has a reputation as a foreign policy hawk since he started working in Washington. He has made the case for regime change in Iran many times.

Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the US from the Iran nuclear deal in May of last year raised tensions between Washington and Tehran to a new level. The goal of the Obama era agreement was to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. The sanctions on Iran were reimposed by Trump after he withdrew from the agreement.

Concerns that the US and Iran were on the verge of war were raised after Trump ordered the drone strike against Soleimani. The dynamic between Washington and Tehran is still contentious.

President Joe Biden tried to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, but indirect talks to restore it have so far failed. Biden said during a visit to Israel that the US would use force to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
