Max Fried was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list by the Atlanta Braves after hitting his head on the field.
The move was retroactive. Fried was hurt in the second game of the Braves' game against the Mets.
Fried's chest was slashed by a throw from Dansby Swanson at first base in the third quarter. Fried's throwing shoulder and head hit the ground as he tried to get Francisco Lindor out at home plate.
Fried allowed six hits, four runs, and two earned, and struck out five and walked one, but stayed in the game. He took the loss and fell to 10-4 this season. He has an earned run average of 2.60
Right-handed pitcher Jay Jackson was recalled by the Braves, who are in second place in the NL East and hold the NL's top wild-card spot.
