The captain told passengers that the plane was delayed because of a problem with her chair, but the wheelchair user was left humiliated.

A passenger on a Jet2 flight from Bristol in the south west of England to the Spanish island of Tenerife was bitten by a dog.

The electric wheelchair user told the programme she felt she was treated in a very undignified way and that her journey was embarrassing.

She said that she was not boarded first and that Jet2 partially dismantled her wheelchair in the airport, something that she had never been asked to do before.

The captain told the other passengers that the flight was delayed because of her electric wheelchair.

She said that flight staff told her they wouldn't come back in the event of an emergency, which made her feel like her life wasn't as important as other passengers'.

A Jet2 spokesman told Insider that the company had apologized to her. The airline will make sure that additional training is done so that the incident doesn't happen again.

The airport apologized for the "adverse impression the passenger has gained."

Wheelchair users have complained of broken and lost chairs and poor treatment by airlines during the summer.

Michael Strunk Kristiansen told Insider that he was without his wheelchair for five days after the airline lost it on his flights.
