New Apple SharePlay-like live-sharing features will be added to Meet in order to make it easier for call participants to engage with content together in real time.

The live-sharing features that were introduced to Duo back in February are coming to Meet.

The live-sharing feature will allow users to watch videos together, listen to music, and play games. Either mobile or kahoot!

The new features are accessible through the three-dot menu under the Activities tab. Users can start a shared activity if they want to listen to a track together and if they want to join a group session. The group session feature is only available for premium customers.

The icon for Duo was updated last week to make it easier for people to use it. The name of the meeting will now be called "Google Meet (original)" with a green icon. Instant and schedule meeting options, in-meeting chat, and virtual background have been added to Meet by the tech giant.

While these latest updates work well for Meet calls across different platforms, consumers embedded in Apple'secosystem will already be familiar with this type of social content consumption through SharePlay, which works across a broader array of apps.
