One of the most dangerous and irresponsible actions by a car company in decades was called out by a political and consumer advocate.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has the power to order the removal of FSD technology from cars. That is about 100,000 vehicles according to CEO Musk.

The author of the bestselling book "Unsafe at Any Speed," which criticized the American auto industry, cited research that found the system malfunctioned every 8 minutes. That research was published in January by The Dawn Project, an organization aiming to ban unsafe software from safety critical systems that put out a full page ad in The New York Times.

On the same streets where children walk to school, this nation should not allow this malfunctioning software. We need to send an urgent message to the regulators that Americans can't be test dummies for powerful corporations. The laws of manslaughter apply to everyone.

The next version of the software will be released on August 20. Musk didn't say anything about the next iteration's capabilities other than "this release will be big." Musk said on the Q2 earnings call that he hoped to have self-driving cars on the road by the end of the year.

He should be targeting the autopilot of the electric car company. In the past, Musk andTesla have said that the company has not been responsible for crashes or deaths. A recent video on the internet shows a car colliding with a barrier on the road. Several crashes may have been caused by autopilot. According to the NHTSA, there have been 16 crashes in which the owners of the electric vehicle crashed into emergency vehicles, resulting in injuries and one death. In the last two years, there have been 38 investigations into crashes involving the cars.

NHTSA's recent ADAS crash report shows that there are far fewer crashes with similar ADAS technology. It is difficult to compare how dangerous the technology is in comparison to its competitors because there are more ADAS-equipped cars on the road than any other car.

NHTSA did not reply immediately.

In a pair of July 28 filings, the California Department of Motor Vehicles accusedTesla of false advertising to promote its Autopilot and FSD technologies, both of which are advanced driver assistance systems.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles said earlier this year that it was rethinking its approach to regulating self-driving cars, as the agency does with every other company that claims to do so. The ADAS category requires a human driver to be present for crashes and system failures to be reported to the Department of Motor Vehicles. After looking at dozens of videos showing dangerous use of that technology, the Department of Motor Vehicles decided to reexamine.

The Department of Motor Vehicles can't comment until it completes the reevaluation. In the worst case, the Department of Motor Vehicles could take away the licenses of the company to make or sell cars in the state. It would be a problem for the EV maker if that happened. California has the most loyal buyer base of all the states.

The relationship between Musk and the state has been strained since May 2020, when the state ordered Musk to close his factory in the Bay Area. Musk announced in October of last year that his company would be moving to Austin.

In June, the celebrity executive said that without FSD, the company would be worthless. It is possible that it is based on the belief that FSD is not what it is cracked up to be, as evidenced by the fact that the stock is overvalued.

The stagnation of the auto companies was exposed byTesla andelonmusk. A fast moving company can't obscure wildly speculative stock valuation on top of a general stock market bubble that could destroy millions of Americans' savings. It is not possible to ignore the Fundamentals.
