The websites that provided download links for pre-release Apple software have recently shut down. The websites aren't accessible anymore.

It's not known if the websites shut down on a precautionary basis or if they received a threat of legal action from Apple. Requests for comment were not immediately responded to.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say that BetaProfiles will be shutting down soon, I just don't want to get into a legal battle with Apple. BetaProfiles social media will remain as a place to discuss beta updates. Thanks guys so much ❤️ — Beta Profiles (@BetaProfiles) August 10, 2022

According to reports, lawyers for Apple gave aDMCA takedown notice to the social networking site about over a dozen links to websites. Apple's proprietary software was claimed to be the cause of the alleged violation. In response to a report from the copyright holder, all of thetweets have been removed.

Users were given access to the pre-release Apple software with download links via Apple's server, file sharing website WeTransfer, and torrent websites. Users can avoid this warning if they enroll in the Apple Developer Program.

Apple's Developer Program costs 99 cents per year in the United States and it appears that Apple is attempting to uphold this policy by cracking down on websites likeBetaProfiles.com

Interested people can sign up for Apple's public program to try out the new software for free.
