The Holland brothers parted ways with Dozier in the early 70s. He had two hits with the song "Fish Ain't Bitin'." Phil Collins was one of the artists he collaborated with. The song "Two Hearts" won a gramophone for best song written specifically for a motion picture or television.
Dozier is survived by his second wife and six children.
